Bahrain: Iranian Diplomat Is Expelled

Bahrain ordered the acting Iranian chargé d’affaires to leave within 72 hours on Thursday and recalled its own ambassador over allegations that Iran sponsored “subversion” and funneled arms to militants in Bahrain. Iran did not immediately respond. Bahrain, a Sunni-ruled kingdom that has faced four years of unrest from Shiites demanding more political freedom, often accuses Iran of meddling in its affairs. Bahraini authorities said Wednesday that they had seized 1.5 tons of explosives at a suspected militant hide-out south of the capital, Manama.
