Title: Expedition of Dhat al-Riqa
Post by: scusemyenglish on August 11, 2016, 04:43:37 PM
Salam.

Do you know when this expediction happened?

because acording to wikipedia : The expedition of Dhat al-Riqa took place in October 625 AD, 5AH of the Islamic Calendar,[4] but some other Muslim scholars believe it took place after the Battle of Khaybar in 627 AD, i.e. 7 AH of the Islamic Calendar.

I say that because acording to Abu Mousa el Ashari and Abu Hourayra that was in 7 years.

In fact why there is divergence?

Barak'Allah ou fikoum

Wa alaykum alsalam akhi.

Wikipedia is not a source. The real question is who said 5th year and who said 7th?

Check what Ibn Ishaaq, Khalifa, and Al Tabari said. If there is an agreement by them, then it should be the more correct opinion.

nobody know?

Ibn Kathir(R) says-  It happened in 4th hijri {Al bidaya - chapter on events of 4th hijri}
Bukhari(r) says it happened after 7th Hijri , as - Abu MUsa(ra) joined this expedition , who came back from Abisiniya at the time of khaybar ; also Abu HUrayra(ra) was also in the war who became Muslim in 6th Hijri, and took part in this war

But we know the methodology of Ibn Kathir?  Why He has not taken the view of sahaba who were witness?
