What is the history of Arabic Words As-sikeen and Al-mudya (knife)? In which regions Al-Mudya was used Instead of as-skeen.?
As in Muslim a quote shows that some Arabs dont know As-skeen and they were only familiar with word al-mudya..

I doubt we can know which Arabs knew which, but it's common  knowledge that Arabs used many languages and that's why you have different Qur'anic letters, for example some Sahabah didn't know al-Zukhruf meant until they heard two men from yemen saying that al-Zukhruf was Dhahab(gold).
