Status of IBN SA'D
« on: March 01, 2016, 11:15:35 PM »
Salam Aylikoum.

What is the status of IBN SA'D? for us? He is reliable or not?

What is his status in the field of History and in the fiel of prophetic hadith?

his relationship with Al Waquidi is a problem or not?

And

I have seen this sentence from Al-Nasa’i

Al-Nasa’i (d. 303 A.H.) said "The liars known for fabricating the Hadith of the Messenger of Allah are four. They are: Arba’ah b. Abi Yahya in Madinah, al-Waqidi in Baghdad, Muqatil b. Sulayman in Khurasan and Muhammad bin Sa’id in Syria."

He talks about the same Ibn Sa'id or not?

Barak' Allah ou fikoum

Abou Hourayra narrated that the messenger saws said:

"“There will come to the people years
of treachery (...) the Ruwaibidhah will decide matters.”
It was said

 'Who are the Ruwaibidhah?'

The Prophet replied:

 “Vile and
ignorant men who will speak in the affairs of the people.”

He's reliable, he is from Basarah (not Syria), the quote you have is about Muhammad bin Sa`eed not bin Sa`d. His teacher al-Waqidi is a great historian, he is weak in narrating so we don't accept a chain from him.

He's reliable

But he is reliable in the two fields, History and Chain of transmission? or only for history?

reliable in general, he doesn't lie and he is an expert narrator. Not on the same level of Bukhari or Nasa'i.

Barak Allah ou fik for your speed of reaction. And your availability.

It's important for me because many informations about Said Ibn Mussaybe are from Ibn Sa'd.

I don't want used weak sources for the work on Abou Hourayra mostly that Saib Ibn Mussayb is  the cornerstone of my work...

Thank you very much!
