Was Muslim bin Uqbah al-Marri,commander of Yazid,a sahabi?

I do not believe that he was. None of the early books that have mentioned Sahaba mention him as a Sahabi.
Ibn Hajar says that he included him in his book because Ibn Asakir said that he was alive at the time of the Prophet - peace be upon him - . However, this evidence is not strong enough as Ibn Hajar suggests at the end of his biography in Al-Isaba.

What about Ibn Asir?he included him in Asad ul ghaba?
