It seems so rare to see any ulema who are from madinah today. Why is this?

The Muslims in Madinah made up 99% of the Muslims in the world in the early years of Islam. By the end of the first century the number may have shrunk down to 20%, if not less.
Today, there are only one million Muslims in Madinah, which is less than 0.1% of all Muslims. Statistics play a major role in this sort of thing.
