What Aqeedah is the best ?
« on: April 04, 2017, 06:45:34 AM »
Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem

Salam Alaykoum wa rahmatullah

I am wondering now that i left shiism for good should i follow the salaf aqeedah ? i decided to follow Imam Shafiee (RAH) in fiqh but consider either Abul Hassan al Achari or The salaf madhab in aqeedah. I also think higly of Imam al Ghazali (RAH) and i find sufism very interessing (not the bid3ah one with dances etc). I heard bad about Salafis but i have to say it is the madhab i studied the least . Could a Salafi brother please explain the differences with the Acharis or the matuiridis ??\

Personally I accept the premise that the aqida which many hanbali's followed (which salafis follow too), ashari, maturidi & athari all are under the spectrum of ahlus sunnah.
They may differ on secondary & rather trivial matters of aqida, but its the extremists from each side who blow it out of proportion.
Stay away from any cult inclined group aswell as extremists amongst each group i.e takfiri salafi's, wayward extreme sufi's etc.
Take the good & leave the bad from whatever sunni sources you have access too.

The most  appropriate aqeedah is Athari aqeedah. Have you got twitter or any other social media? Perhaps, we could connect there
They asked how many will be with the one I hate. I said 313

No group is exclusively upon truth, Ahlul-Sunnah is a combination of various Islamic schools with many great opinions. For a beginner, try a combination of Ash`ari/Athari and compare and contrast which opinions make more sense to you then follow. Make your MAIN book of `Aqidah the Qur'an, stick to it as much as possible.

Salaam brother

We offer classes in Aqeeda, fiqh and hadith. So far  we covered Aqeeda Tahawiyyah, and The  Daf' Shubah al-Tashbih bi-Akaff al-Tanzih by Ibn al-Jawzi.  This coming May 13th we are covered Usool al Fiqh of Imam Shafi.

Well you left the correct aqeedah and therefore all the other options are the same, all batil.

Thanks so much for this. I don't know much about the aqida but I do know a lot of fiqh.

Yet another piece of evidence that Hani tends to merely give what are his own views, irrespective if he is actually going against the vast majority of Sunni scholarship.

The majority of modern day Athari scholars and proper Salafis like Farid regard Asharis are deviants in Aqeedah and not part of the Ahlus-Sunnah wal Jamaah. So i wonder how he will take to his chief writer promoting deviant groups?

The majority of modern day Ashari Sunnis regard Salafis(our day's Athari) as deviants in Aqeedah.

So on what grounds are you advising this brother to choose a group as if it were just choosing a basic Fiqh group? Even in your articles, this very similar pattern of going against fair standards and major scholarship, and just opining can be found, which is very worrying for readers who may rely on TSN to be objective and by fair scholarship standards.

Wa alaikum asalam,

If you had recently left Shi'ism. I don't recommend that you jump right into the Ash'ari, Maturidi, and Athari controversies straight away because it's a giant headache filled with so many semantics, going around in circles, etc. What I do recommend though is to focus on learning about the Ibadaat (i.e. Prayer, fasting, Hajj, etc) based on the Shafi'i madhab. Focus on reading the Sirah of the prophet, purification of the heart, reading the Quran with a simple Tafsir on the side to reflect upon the meanings, etc.

As for Aqeedah, go through Aqeedah al Tahawiyyah with someone that can explain to you the book in detail, and just stick with that. The reason is that the information from Aqeedah al Tahawiyyah, as far as I know, is agreed upon by all of Ahl al-Sunnah. So I recommend you stick with that for now.

Don't go on assumptions or may be or probably. Put forward facts. Otherwise you're talking wind.

If you're too hesitant, afraid or holding back on answering or explaining something then why is that labelled as Kufria belief.

It was explained. If you don’t want to admit, that doesn’t mean the reality would change.

The other problematic belief is that belief of Imamate which is against Quran and an attack on finality of Prophethood.

HOW? Explain and discuss. If you can that is.
