There seems to have been a call by Sistani's representative for the militias to be brought under Iraqi state control:

It would remain to be seen if this would actually take place and bring about effective change given the variegated aims of the militias.

As one can see, their goal is not 'resistance' more than it is occupation. The excuse of 'resisting injustice' is simply a red herring, since we Sunnis are 'Unjust' by definition according to the Twelver Shia religion, and this is a recipe for continued violence for decades, maybe centuries.
