Is it bad that I feel good over Shia persecution?
« on: October 20, 2016, 10:19:57 PM »
Aslam alaikum wuruhmutullahi wuburakatuhu. All praise is due to Allah

I'm a young Muslim upon the manhaj of Ahle Sunnah, alhamdullillah. The thing is, I fell into the common radical youth problem. I didn't support people like Daesh, but I was pretty extreme. I never really agreed with Shiasm and I've lived in a traditional Sunni home. But during this phase, my dislike for shiasm and shias skyrocketed. My notes were willed with anti shia rhetorics and refutations to shia beliefs. I, like most extremists, didn't believe sunnis and shias could live in peace. I believed they were a wretched people(I still believe they're wrethced) and had to be cleansed from the world. My twitter was pull of graphic shia beheading videos and I would always quote them with a takbir. Had a habit of cursing their 12th imam, just to push their buttons. I've left that way of thinking for almost a year now, alhamdulliah. But that anti shia rhetoric has stuck with me, because I was fully exposed to the Rawafidh's heresey. I didn't know what Shias were until I was 8-9, and I thought that the cursing sahaba was just some anti propaganda. I've seen Shia militias in Iraq kill muslims, and it just infuriates me. Of course, I don't openly tweet calling for the death of shias, but when I hear that some shias have been killed, regardless of who perpetrated it, regardless of my hate of the perpetrators,(I loathe daesh as much as I do the rafidah), I feel good, almost this "Make the dunyah a better place" kind of vibe.

Wa alaykum alsalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

Maybe we have different perspectives because of our environments bro. I grew up with them and cannot bring myself to hating them. They are simply misguided, and like in all religions and sects, have a lot of good people.

Then again, some of the most hateful people towards Shias are ex-Shias. I don't know. Maybe I'm just a softie. ;p

Allahu musta3n lol. Where I'm from, it's full on sectarianism and shia hatred is pretty common.

What you have is a normal psychological reaction, you view their sect as a harmful and transgressing one, that's why their misfortune pleases you.

Remember, they are Muslims although misguided, we don't wish anyone harm or pain, we wish for them to stop attacking Islam and be guided.

The 12ers too get happy  to when they see Sunni dying. In fact, many believe when the 12th one comes, he will lead them into killing non-12ers. Many await the 12th imam to resurrect the bodies of Abi Bakr and Umar and punish them over and over again. Now the reality is many times innocent 12er Shia get killed, and the marjas get excited because now they can go out on the street, and try to connect the killing of the 12ers to Karbala. The reality the 12er sect is mainly based on emotion, so these type of events only strengthen their sect.

Walaykum as-salaam wa rahmatullahi wa barakathu,
It is very wrong if you feel good over Shia persecution.  In case we have forgotten, I will remind myself before I remind others that they are Muslims.  We are the Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama'ah.  We never excommunicated anyone nor do we take pleasure in pushing people out of the main-fold of Islam.  They chose to adopt a different ideology and act upon a different methodology and that is their prerogative.  As far as the true aqeedah of Ahlus Sunnah is concerned, we are allowed to pray behind anyone who recites and believes in the shahada provided they do not disbelieve in core Islamic set of beliefs.

If I could recommend one thing, I would ask you to spend time with them.  Go to their mosques, pray with them and depending on your tolerance (as long as you do not get heated), listen to them.  When I attend Muharram lectures for example (they start right after Maghrib prayers), I cannot tell you the number of people that flock over to say "taqabal Allah" to me (after prayers).  They see me pray with them (with my hands folded and without a turbah) and they feel so happy to see a Sunni considering them equal.

ALL the major scholars have declared the rafidah as disbelievers. Ahle Sunnah is the mahaj of moderation. Takfir isn;t exception. We're not extreme in takfir like the Khawarij, but we're also not extreme in avoiding takfir like the Murjiah. Qadianis, Nusayris, Druze, all have been declared Kuffar, I don't see why this can't apply to the rafidah considering the Ulama were haunch opponents to them. And the way of Ahle sunnah is not to pray behind a mubtadi3 because their aqeedah is flawed. The rafidah on the other hand have a complete different millah. Imam bukhari said he didn't see a difference between praying behind a Jew or a Rafidi. Considering the rafidi is from the jew in his origins

I think we all know the reason why Qadianis (for example) are declared kaffir.  So let us not compare apples to oranges by further stating that Imam Bukhari (rah) forbade praying behind a Rafidi because when we speak of Shias, we are not speaking about Rawaafid; two different concepts.  The very fact that you had to make a topic about their persecution shows that you are hurting over either their persecution or your unwarranted feel-good emotion (after you find out about their persecution).  Both indicate that you are troubled either way.  Make peace with things that are beyond ability and scope to change.  At the end of the day, no Sunni is better than a Shia and no Shia is better than a Sunni but by his or her faith and actions.

I also feel good whenever something sinister happens to them.

I guess it's not a welcoming thought, but their kufr is something too overwhelming to handle.

I agree with many of our 'Ulama who confirm if TwelverShia are not Muslims.

I am interested to know, who or where are those non-Rafidhi Shias referred to above? The best example I can think of are actually Sunnis of certain persuasions who may place 'Ali (RAA) over the Shaykhayn (RAA), they would be classified as 'Shias' yet also remain within the scope of Ahl us Sunnah according to a number of our scholars.

Yet as far as Twelvers are concerned, unless if a Twelver is totally divorced from the formal teaching of his religion, it is difficult to see how the term 'Rafidi' would not be applicable to them [possible in a sense, and perhaps a case of cognitive dissonance from their part when dealing with these matters in the best possible scenario, though that could also hide behind it beliefs that throw someone out of Islam altogether]...Add to that how the current geopolitical situations are making very strange statements come out from their side explicitly crafted to sow division, and I don't see how the term 'Rafidi' cannot be applied to Twelvers as a rule, and then exceptions made on a case by case basis.

They are misguided but as Ahl-Sunnah waljama'ah, the most just people, we shouldn't feel good when we see they or people of any other sect/religion are persecuted. Rather, it becomes our duty to provide them justice.
