Is it Permissible to curse Yazid?

I've seen convincing arguments on both sides, sunni and shia alike, for that matter.
They asked how many will be with the one I hate. I said 313

Sunnies themselves are mostly split between:

A- Hating him but refraining from cursing as a principal.

B- Hating and cursing him whenever his terrible deeds are mentioned (which is rare).

A minority exists today that believe Yazid was innocent and holds no responsibility. They believe it's only lies by Shia for political reasons.

This last view is not carefully or properly researched.

As for those who detest Ali and praise Muawiyah and Yazid, they are Nawasib. These folks mainly existed in the era of the Umayyads, they were eradicated intellectually by Ahlul Sunnah who spread the virtues of banu Hashim.

I personally hold the belief that Yazid was a zalim and is also to be blamed, but had Hussain Ra been able to talk to him one-one-one, he wouldn't have met his demise. I 'm under the impression that Yazid would much rather have preferred Hussain Ra to be alive. Ubaydullah Ibn Ziyad was too stubborn to think rationally or consider the proposals he was given by Hussain Ra when Umar ibn Sa'ad's forces intercepted him.

If that's what you think then what you read is well researched, Because that's exactly what happened. Hopefully a book will soon be released on this subject.

Are you saying that those who praise Muawiyah RA are nasibis?

No, those who detest `Ali WHILE praising Mu`awiyah & Yazid.

Praising Mu`awiyah without detesting `Ali is quite common and acceptable.

Praising Yazid himself isn't even a big deal unless a person is familiar with the history and knows of the man's crimes, in which case loving and praising him become very problematic (Nasb).

Muawiyah (ra) had nothing to do with the crimes of his son. Muawiyah was the first king in Islam and the best king, but still only a king. Can't be compared to the Khulafaa.

There is nothing good about his rule. In fact he created a fitna by destroying the Caliphate.

Who, Muawiyah or Yazid?

I have often wondered what would have happened with the Ummah if Hassan (ra) had served his Caliphate out. Would there have been more Khulafaa and who would they have been? Would we still have a Khalifa or would it have ended at some other point in history? Etc.

Certainly the fitna of Shi'ism wouldn't have taken root because there would have never been an any usurpation of authority. Perhaps the fitna of Nasibism would have been much smaller, or perhaps it may have been much bigger (if the people didn't like his rule).

As a sunni (but prefer the term muslim) I do not believe the sahaba were infallible unlike the shia who believe so in regards to their Imams.

Thats the beauty of islam that every man & woman is & can be held accountable for their deeds both good & bad.

No one is beyone repute.

Some sahaba were greater thab others on this aspect.

Muawiya had both good & bad.

Thr bad being his appointing yazid when clearly there were more worthy candidates.

Neither muawiya nor yazid are a hujjah for us.

Allah knows best Muawiya's motive, but its not a fundemental belief to be pro or anti in this regard.

Criticism of his appointing yazid is fair.

The status and honour of Sayyidina wa Maulana Ali ul Murtaza RA is well-known. And no Muslim can think of lowering the rank of Sayyidina Ali RA.

But under this cover, those so-called intellectuals, who detest Sayyidina Muawiyah RA and (nauzubillah) make him stand in their court like a culprit, are not doing any service to the deen however they are manifesting their wretched and filthy spirit!

Don't curse those who abstain from cursing, not everybody went and researched the event then concluded what you did. Some also follow narrations that advise Muslims not to curse one another. Some do not know whether he repented or not. If a person prefers to abstain and keep his tongue purified then good for him, we were not ordered by any religious text to curse a specific person, if we did we'd be cursing Pharaoh 24/7 whose crime is a million times worse than Yazid.

Yazid's irresponsible decisions led to the death of a great man, he wronged al-Husayn bin `Ali and oppressed him.

Pharaoh claimed Godhood and wronged God Himself! Yet Musa (as) was ordered to speak to him softly and calmly.

Point is, those who are certain of his crimes rightfully curse him. Those who are uncertain or unsure, refrain.

Dear brother, know that even recent scientific studies show that every negative statement you make will affect your psychological condition. Every foul word harms the person who utters it more than it harms others. Keeping the soul pure and healthy requires that you abandon certain matters, grudges, hatred toward fellow man etc... and leave all of it up to God. The wisest of people don't curse the person but curse the action, such as saying "May God deliver justice to the oppressed and guide the oppressors." Or "May God judge every tyrant on the day of judgement." etc...

Again, I personally don't have any issues with those who curse him for his terrible deeds.

Let me be clear. The reason why I say this is because we have hadiths like this:

قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه و آله من تأثم ان يلعن من لعنه الله فعليه لعنة الله

If someone knows Yazid (la) killed the Al-Husayn (as) but "refrains" from cursing him, then to me that's pathetic.

I don't believe cursing or insulting individuals which we are allowed to curse and insult is wrong, in fact our authentic hadiths tell us that is rewarding.
