Most of the twelve imams were jehadist.The died fighting in the fields or were poisoned by their opponents, but they never changed their views to save themselves.
   
  So from where suddenly appeared in the Imamat of Jafar Alsadik,a doctrine of cowardly taqqaya?The reason was this that Rafdhis found a school in kufa,headed by Zurarah bin Aen.This school produced forged ahadith of  Imam jaffar and invented shiaism.
 
  Imam Jaffar repeatedly warned against them and zurarah.To answer these warnings, the rafdhis invented the doctrine of taqayyah.That the Imam said these things under taqayah.Shikh tusi later use this taqayah to refute anything said by imams that supported Sunnis.
 
  Maymun al-Qaddah was born in Ahwaz in Iran. He belonged to the Makhzumi clan and was the mawla (freed slave) of Imam Muhammad Bakir and Imam Jafar Sadik. His surname "al-Qaddah" is usually taken to mean "oculist", he and his son, Abdullah bin Maymun were against the Islamic tenets.They  invented taqayyah.They practiced taqayah so little is known about them.
 Abd Allāh b. Maymūn al-Qaddāḥ, known in Imāmī sources as a companion of Jaʿfar al-Ṣādiq, and a renowned transmitter of ḥadīths from him. In anti-Ismaili polemics, however, he is referred to as the founder of the Ismaili movement and the progenitor of the Fāṭimid caliphs.

Only i'd say those liars from kufa at the time of Jafar sadiq were pioneers of the present rafidhi cult rather than founders of shi'ism.
Shi'ism existed before them all be it mainly as a political entity of those who supported Ali & the ahle bayt. Amongst these were good muslims & some who were heretics. The famous one's who were authentic companions of these ahle bayt from ali to rest of his offspring were mainstream muslims.
The kufans defo created the taqiyah concept as you mention to justify their lies & brush away the mainstream muslim opinions of the imams of ahle bayt
