Saudi Shiite cleric Nimr al-Nimr sentenced to death

Riyadh (AFP) - A Saudi court on Wednesday sentenced prominent Shiite cleric and anti-government protest leader Nimr al-Nimr to death after convicting him of sedition, his family said.

The verdict risks a further escalation of tensions with Saudi Arabia's minority Shiite community.

Nimr was a driving force behind demonstrations against the Sunni authorities that erupted in 2011 in the oil-flush east, alongside a Shiite-led protest movement in neighbouring Bahrain.

The cleric was also convicted of seeking "foreign meddling" in the country, a reference to Iran, his brother Mohammed al-Nimr wrote on Twitter.

He was found guilty of "disobeying" the kingdom's rulers and taking up arms against security forces, his brother said.

I don't care much about proofs because I really don't care about the dude, I hope all Fitnah mongers like him get jailed to be honest.

shia made so much fuss about this verdict when at the same time they didn't object the pre-judicial killing & massacres done for the last 3 years by assad regime. What happen in Syria is another proof that shia don't care much about justice, its all about what's in it for them. Many sunni had sympathy for them when they were oppressed by Saddam or bombed by Israel etc, but when Syrian sunni were oppressed by one of their own who is not even a 12er plues he is a secular socialist, most of these backstabber 12ers don't care and even send volunteers to help the oppressors or make excuses for what he is doing. Shiaism is all about lip service but full of treachery, which is really the essence of taqiyah isn't it?

Also as far as false news, for instance today my wife told me that "King of Saudi gifted his daughter a toilet made from gold" She believed it, I found it suspicious, I checked online, turns out the news is wrong and people from Saudi denied it saying "We never heard about this here(In Saudi)".
