The term 'Ahle sunnah wal jamah'
« on: January 19, 2015, 02:56:32 PM »
Assalamualaikum. Can anybody plz provide me with The complete chain of this Report? JazakAllah.

al-Lalika'i mentioned in 'Sharh Usul I'tiqad Ahl as-Sunnah' (1/72) that the first person to have actually used the term 'Ahl as-Sunnah' was Ibn 'Abbas, the Hashimi ofthe Ahl Al-Bayt, when explaining the verse: {"...on the day when some faces will be brightened, and some faces will be blackened..."} [Al 'Imran; 106] He said: "Those whose faces will be brightened are Ahl as-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah. As for those whose faces will be blackened, then they are the people of innovation and misguidance (ahl al-bida' wad-dalalah)."

I need to give it to them here in this group. https://m.facebook.com/groups/520582901417437?view=permalink&id=543852055757188&refid=18&_ft_

I read on an Arab board that it is authentic, need to look it up, in any case, this is a book of AQIDAH so it is obviously authentic according to the author. Here something related to the topic and about the famous lie of the Rafidah that the term "Ahl al-Sunnah" is an innovation by the Umayyads:

^Narrated by who? By Ibn 'Abbas Al-HASHIMI (from the Ahl al-Bayt), THE Mufassir (main narrator) of the Ahl al-Sunnah when it comes to the Tafsir of the Qur'an.

What does it matter when the title "Ahlul-Sunnah wal-Jama`ah" was used? It's only a title, our name is "Muslims", and among the Muslims are those who follow the Sunnah (Ahlul-Sunnah) and then the people of innovations of various sects and they are hundreds.

Tracing this back to a companion needs to be researched, but I know for a fact it is authentically attributed to the earliest of big Imams such as Sufiyan, Ibn Sireen and al-Basri.
