Afghan worshippers marking Ashoura targeted in Kabul
At least 14 people killed at Kabul shrine ahead of the holy day of Ashoura.

Shia pilgrims were targeted in the Afghan capital Kabul late on Tuesday with at least 14 people killed as they gathered to celebrate Ashoura, one of the most important festivals on the Shia-Muslim calendar.

At least one attacker was killed, interior ministry spokesman Sediq Sediqqi said, adding the assault was over.

Hamza Sodagar: Homosexuality is evil but I didn’t call for gays to be harmed
Posted by 5Pillars
The Islamic scholar at the centre of a row about his comments on homosexuality has told 5Pillars that he believes the practice is a great evil, but he rejects all attempts by individuals acting outside state authority to harm gays.

Police called to Shia mosque in Luton as dispute rages over bloodletting ceremony
Posted by 5Pillars
Bedfordshire Police said they were evacuating and closing down a Shia mosque in Luton on Tuesday night over a dispute about the practice of zanjeer zani, or self-flagellation with blades.

Earlier in the day police had issued a warning that those who are found using an offensive weapon in a public place may be liable to prosecution. And Luton Borough Council had warned Masjid-e-Ali that flagellation poses a significant public health risk due the potential for transmission of blood-borne disease. The council also said self-flagellation was not covered by the mosque’s insurance policy and that they were concerned about the welfare of children and young people.

Nevertheless, witnesses told 5Pillars that the practice of self-flagellation with blades continued despite the police presence. However, later on officers attempted to evacuate the building and close down the mosque although no arrests were made. Although the situation remains unclear, it’s thought that Masjid-e-Ali will not be open today on the Day of Ashura.

More Western bombs won’t help Syria
Posted by 5Pillars
The Stop the War Coalition’s Lindsey German says Western military intervention to impose a no-fly zone in Syria would only make a bad situation worse.

Last weekend’s Stop the War conference was a big success. It attracted around 700 people who came together to discuss the wars which have raged for 15 years across Asia and the Middle East. It contained people who were involved in Stop the War from the very beginning, as well as young people from very diverse backgrounds. Speakers included trade union representatives, international guests, campaigners over drones and nuclear weapons and of course the Leader of the Opposition, Jeremy Corbyn.

In sum, the vast majority of those who identify with the term "shia" are.
They asked how many will be with the one I hate. I said 313

Salam,

I think only one or two members out of all members who joined this forum thinks they're disbelievers. We do not believe such a judgement can be made generally.

The forums have hundreds of members and I do not know anyone who believes in the general apostasy of Twelver Shia except the brother above.

As for the bit that required elaboration, well Shia come in all colors of the spectrum. It's not uncommon to come across a Shia adopting a beleif that takes one out of the folds of Islam according to the average Muslim.

Examples are: Shia who believe the Quran we have has been altered and distorted by the Companions in order to misguide the nation. Or Shia who believe that God gave the 12 Leaders complete control over the universe and its atoms so they are able to create, do miracles and see the unseen as they please.

Etc...

salaam alaykum brother, just need a clarification, do you believe that those who have the beliefs you mentioned above to still be muslims?

or those issues don't take one outta the folds of Islam.

I found this, saying (among other things):-
 1. shias (of Ali) were present during the life time of Rasulullah saw.
2. What could possibly have prevented Rasulullah saw from stopping these people, from being Shias (of Ali), if indeed they were deviants?.

Any thoughts? tq.
