Title: what is our answer about this? - Narrator took money for narrating hadith
Post by: Ahlus_sunnah on May 27, 2016, 07:01:22 PM
sunni imam, thiqa, yaqoob bin ibrahim: took money for narrating hadeeth?

nisai wrote in his book “sunan ul kubra” after mentioning a narration that

“nisai said: ibrahim bin yaqoob did not narrate this hadeeth except after taking dinar (arab currency)”

[sunan ul kubra, vol 1, page 93]

ibrahim bin yaqoob was termed imam, grand hafiz by dhabi
[tazkira tul huffaz, vol 2, page 506]

as per mizzi, opinions of other scholars about him were

nisai= thiqa
abu hatim=sudooq
abu bakar khateeb = thiqa, hafiz, pious
[tehzeeb ul kamal, vol 32, page 314]

There is a difference of opinion in regards to this, and some scholars have said it is halal for those in need.

Truly, even today, many of those that teach in religious institutes are poor. Yet, we do not accuse their niyyah simply because they are being paid to teach.

إنما الأعمال بالنيات

Maybe he was very poor and needed the money to feed himself or his kids.

Whoever wrote this doesn't understand how to get across a point. If we read this without knowing the views of the Rawafid we'd find out that Ibrahim ibn Yaqub was payed for a Hadith. If his point was that they're corrupt then he needs to give proof like him being bribed to alter a Hadith. Here he's just payed for a Hadith.

By the way its interesting how he doesn't post what the actual Hadith was and how he can't decide if its Ibrahim ibn Yaqoob or Yaqoob ibn Ibrahim
