Where exactly was Ali(ra) Killed ?

Salam

Some say he was on Sujud when Ibn muljim striked him while others say he was rather outside the mosque after prayers when he was martyred.

Can I know which opinion is correct and if possible any Narration about the incident ?

Not sure, I get the impression he was heading towards the Masjid and the man was waiting in ambush.
