Title: Interesting statistic re: number of narrations on the authority of Ali (r)
Post by: Khaled on July 02, 2015, 11:20:48 PM
One of the main argument Shi'is have against Sunnis is that we are Nawasib and we hate Ali رضي الله عنه.  The worst of us, according to the Shi'is, is the Hanaabilah, headed by Ahmad bin Hanbal رحمه الله.

Now, most of you know one of the biggest hadeeth Encyclopedias written in the time of the Salaf was the "Musnad" compiled by Ahmad bin Hanbal رحمه الله.  In it, he categorizes his ahadeeth the name of the Companion who narrated them; so he starts out with a chapter on Abu Bark's narrations, then Omar, then Uthman, then Ali etc.

The number of narrations he narrates on the authority of Ali رضي الله عنه is: 804, while the number of narrations found in the four books of Shi'i hadeeth is only 690.  Meaning, by himself, Imam Ahmad narrated more reports on the authority of Ali رضي الله عنه then all the major Shi'a hadeeth books combined.

Amusingly enough, when comparing narrations on the authority of Hassan: Imam Ahmad has 19 while the Shi'i books have 21, and on the authority of Hussayn: Imam Ahmad has 18 while the Shi'a have ONLY 7!!

No, he only showed statistics for the four main Shia hadith books and six main Sunni hadith books.
