Post by: adnan42 on February 24, 2015, 01:20:23 AM
assalamualaikum,
is this hadith authentic ??

The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said, 'Do not curse my Companions. A people will come at the end of time who will curse my Companions. Do not join them and do not join with them and do not marry them and do not sit in their assemblies. If they are ill, do not visit them.' (ash-Shifaa, Qadi Iyad رحمه الله)

Reason for edit: Improved the title.

I doubt this Hadith in this wording is authentic, I know it is authentic with a different wording that does not contain the part about marrying them or accompanying them.

Can you quote the Hadith with the different wording?

Can you quote the Hadith with the different wording?

Narrated Abu Sa`id al-Khudri:

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Do not abuse my companions for if any one of you spent gold equal to Uhud (in Allah's Cause) it would not be equal to a Mud or even a half Mud spent by one of them."

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying:

Do not revile my Companions, do not revile my Companions. By Him in Whose Hand is my life, if one amongst you would have spent as much gold as Uhud it would not amount to as much as one much on behalf of one of them or half of it.

What's about the authenticity of other part of narration regarding marriage and their company?

It doesn't make sense. Sahabah-cursers have been around since the death of the Rasul (ص), not really the end of time.

But either way, their rewards get increased every time someone curses them, innit?

^ Some Sahabah were cursed DURING the time of the Prophet (saw) and he simply told them to not be foul mouthed nor to curse his companions.

You need to understand there is a difference between a sahaba who are praised in the Quran and the ones who became sahaba after that. Also, there is difference between those who accepted Islam after the conquest of Mecca.

There is this ahadith in Muslim which says
(On the authority of Abu Sa'eed Khudri, said: There was a thing between Khalid bin Al Walid and Abdur Rahman bin Awf. Khalid slandered him. Rasoolul'Allah said: Do not slander/curse/abuse any of my companions. If one of you were to spend like the mountain of Uhud worth of gold, would stil not catch up with a handful or even half a handful of one of their contribution).

^ This shows that even though some of them have clear sins recorded in some narrations, yet this must not be taken as an excuse to condemn them to hell-fire as their good deeds might have been greater in quality and quantity than their bad ones.

This is something only Allah knows.
