It is very much recommended that everyone that is interested in Islamic studies (not only in Sunni-Shia debate), should read this, in order to see examples of how Hadith is preserved and how precise our scholars were.

were Subhani or other shia scholars informed about this? If yes, what were the response?

Wa Alaykum Al-Salam,

This was an excellent article; all the articles in this series are very insightful, as they bring out the difference between a genuine hadith science like that of the Sunnis, and a random patchwork of guesses like that of the Shia 'hadith science'.

One impression I had when reading Kulayni had to do with the sheer length of the chains he preserves, even when dealing with hadiths going back to the fifth and sixth Imams. There seemed to be a lot of names there. In the case of Sahih Bukhari, there are well-known hadiths which have as few as three transmitters between Imam Bukhari, Allah be pleased with him, and the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace.

Is this impression correct? Is it worthwhile to compare the average lengths of the isnads in Bukhari and Kulayni? If my impression is correct, then this would be a further reason to distrust Kulayni's work as compared to Bukhari's work, and would add to the collective weight of the evidence showing that Bukhari's work is much more trustworthy.

I congratulate you team Twelver Shia for such a detailed analysis and comparison of shia and Sunni Hadith Sciences. Their so called experts in hadith sciences rely on Sunni Hadith sciences as u gave a prime example. It seems true that they took this knowledge from our salaf .

@Hugh: It seems that Shias didn't really care for short chains in general, while Sunnis, on the other hand, traveled for the sake of getting shorter chains. So, it isn't really a surprise that our chains are shorter.

I remember one narration in Sharaf Ashaab Al-Hadeeth in which Al-A'amash complimented Ahl Al-Hadeeth by saying, "These are the best people alive, for they are doing all this just to say: Hadathana Al-A'amash." He is implying that they want to narrate from him directly instead of narrating from one of his students as an intermediary, which would make the chain longer.

Good observation.
