Him flying with wings in Jannah is found in many books like Al Tirmithi,al-Hakim, Al-Tabarani, and Fadha'il Al Sahaba by Imam Ahmad.

Not sure of authenticity.

It is authentic that he was referred to as "He who has two wings" after he passed away though. See Al-Bukhari #4264.

Jazak'Allah Farid. Can you post the actual English text for both narrations, please.

I found the narrations.

1) Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Ja’far (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said to me:

” Congratulations O ‘Abdullah, Your father is flying with the Angels in the sky”

(Al Mu’jamul Kabir, Hadith: 14776)

Hafiz Ibn Hajar and ‘Allamah Haythami (rahimahumallah) have declared the chain of narrators of this Hadith as sound (hasan).

(Fathul Bari, under Hadith: 3709 and Majma’uz Zawaid, vol. 9 pg. 273)

2) Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“Ja’far passed by me last night among a group of Angels, his two wings dyed with blood…”

(Mustadrak Hakim, vol. 3 pg. 212)

Imam Hakim (rahimahullah) has declared the chain of narrators as authentic in conformity with the conditions of Imam Muslim (rahimahullah), Hafiz Dhahabi and Hafiz Ibn Hajar (rahimahumallah) have concurred.

(Fathul Bari, under Hadith: 3709)

3) Sha’bi (rahimahullah) says that Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) would greet ‘Abdullah ibn Ja’far with the following words:

“Peace be upon you, O son of the one with two wings!”

(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 3709)

Hafiz Ibn Hajar (rahimahullah) has further cited similar narrations under the commentary of this Hadith. Also see Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 3763.

Sayyiduna Ja’far ibn Abi Talib (radiyallahu ‘anhu) was martyred in the battle of Muta, The enemy had cut off both his hands. Due to this Allah Ta’ala replaced his hands with wings.

(Refer: Majma’uz Zawaid, vol. 9 pg. 272/3)
