Identifying the narrator

Assalamu Alaykum..
Hey brothers, I'm learning the Ilm-ul-Hadith at my own with some Rijal books (pdf) and some dictionaries (i also know a lil bit Arabic myself ☺️) and it seems quite easy and useful too..
but the only problem i face sometimes is :
1- when there's two or more narrators in the Rijal book, having the same name and father's name and place.. How to identify which one is to be looked at ?
2- having just written their actual name in the narration like:
اخبرنا موسی__عن محمد__عن أبی__عن ابیه
And likewise.. How to examine such narration ?

Walaikumsalam. You’ll need to look up their teacher and student. Or teacher of the teacher and student of student. Or look up that report in some other book, there are chances you’ll find the proper name of that person in other collections.
