Title: Securers and those who granted security (translation of verses)
Post by: Soccer on August 10, 2021, 09:09:04 PM
When God is referred to as a "Momin" most translators have it as "Granter of security/safety" since it does not make sense to call him a believer (58:23)

He is Allah, besides Whom there is no god; the King, the Holy, the Giver of peace, the Granter of security, Guardian over all, the Mighty, the Supreme, the Possessor of every greatness Glory be to Allah from what they set up (with Him).

It can be that other verses are like that with respect to Imams (a).

5:55-56 can be translated as:

Your Authority is only God, the Messenger, and those who granted safety/security - those who keep up prayer and give zakat while they bow. And whoever takes authority God, the Messenger and the securers so indeed the party of God are the successful.

Like wise, those who see our deeds (9:105)

And say, ‘Go on working: Allah will see your conduct, and His Messenger and the Securers, and you will be returned to the Knower of the sensible and the Unseen, and He will inform you concerning what you used to do.

Like wise those who take confidence in (9:16):

Do you suppose that you will be let off while Allah has not yet ascertained those of you who wage jihad and those who do not take anyone as [their] confidant besides Allah and His Messenger and the Securers? Allah is well aware of what you do.

And finally:

Let not the believers take the unbelievers for Authorities rather than Securers; and whoever does this, he shall have nothing of (the guardianship of) Allah, but you should guard yourselves against them, guarding carefully; and Allah makes you cautious of (retribution from) Himself; and to Allah is the eventual coming.

(3:28)
