Bismillah,
So, I stumbled upon an authentic narration in Uyoon Akhbar Al-Redha 2/82 in which Al-Redha asks, "How do they recite this verse (Hud 46) about the son of Nuh?
He (the narrator) said: They read it in two ways:
إنه عَمَلٌ غَيْرُ صالح
إنه عَمِلَ غَيْرَ صالح
The Imam responded, "They lie! He is his son, but Allah removed him when he went against his religion."
Commentary:
Al-Redha rejects the first recitation as an invalid recitation since it means "He is not a good deed" and accepts the second recitation that says, "He committed a bad deed."
I would like to point out that the first recitation is recited by all Shias today. ;)

rejected the recitation, but did he tell them to keep reciting the wrong one?

Apparently Shias are supposed to recite like Sunnis until the Qa'im comes.

Did any of their scholars say that the imam was doing taqiyyah?
