Title: Abu Bakr al-Siddiq: Part 8 - Purpose behind the Conquests
Post by: MuslimK on November 02, 2015, 03:32:49 AM
Was Islam really spread by the sword?

One of the allegations towards the early Muslims is that they invaded non-Muslim lands like blood-thirsty animals, conquering different races and religions in order to force the people to convert to Islam at the point of the sword. We as Muslims all know this to be false.

On the other extreme, we have some Muslims in our times who try to be politically correct and sugar coat history to teach their congregations that the battles of early Islam were mainly defensive in nature, and somehow people just miraculously all simultaneously converted to Islam all over the Middle East and North Africa and other newly-conquered lands. But this narrative as well is not true.

Join Shaykh Dr. Yasir Qadhi as he recaps the life and times of Abu Bakr al-Siddik in the first-half of this talk, and in the second-half he examines the purpose of conquests of the early Muslims and whether Islam truly was spread by the sword. The answer may surprise you!
