Title: How did the trageyd of thursday occur in the first place?
Post by: أبو ماريا المرزم on May 12, 2017, 11:59:43 PM
Now, I know both the shia and sunni views, and quite honestly, it''s obvious the shia irrationaly blew the whole event out of proportion. Anyways, wasn't the Prophet saws illiterate? How was he able to write what he wanted to write?
Due apologies if this may seem like an ignorant question. It's something I've really looked at.

Asalaamu alaykum,

I have heard 2 explanations back when I was a Shia.

1.) The reasonable explanation: The Prophet (saws) was asking for a scribe and the people around him understood that by pen and paper, He (saws) implied a scribe.

2.) The paranormal explanation: The Prophet (saws) instantaneously became literate in every language in the world upon hearing Iqra, and was only illiterate before Prophet-hood. (I wonder if he became literate in extinct languages such as Sumerian and not-yet-invented languages such as English as well? *eye roll*)
