Title: Edit Posts
Post by: Optimus Prime on January 09, 2015, 09:11:56 PM
Asalamualaikum.

The modify button for our posts disappears after a while. I'd like to request this option remain available indefinitely. If we've made any mistakes in our posts it may come across as something else than what we intended.

We can't, otherwise ppl would keep changing their posts, instead think well before you post and review your stuff.

You can't or you won't?

I think users should always be in full control of their posts regardless if it's past/current threads/posts.

How about a poll to see what the other users think of this option?

That's not a good idea, no forum in the world does this, for good reasons. Rafidis would change their post or delete everything! That's not how it goes.

I know many forums that do, akhi, but fair point. I guess it's an easy option for them to mask their taqiyah if they suddenly decided it wasn't needed.  :P

Pretty unwise people ... those forums you mean. No serious forum does that, every user can delete all his posts, edit everything, use profanity (like say by editing very old post nobody can easily spot, but search machines do!) etc. That's madness.

Certain forum platforms allows Administrators to undo all that with a single click, but those are chargeable products where as this one that we're using is freeware.

Khair, I now see it's more a sensible than anything.
